Compliance is not the enemy of good pharma branding
Founders often assume CDSCO regulations make distinctive branding impossible. That's rarely true.
We regularly hear from pharma founders that regulation leaves no room for creative branding decisions, that everything has to look like every other pack on the chemist shelf. In practice, most regulations govern what information must appear and how legible it must be, not the overall visual system around it.
There's real room within those constraints for distinctive colour systems, typography and corporate identity work, especially at the corporate and OTC brand level rather than the strictly regulated prescription label itself. The companies that succeed here design compliance requirements into the layout early, rather than treating them as an obstacle discovered late.
The result is packaging and identity that satisfies regulators without looking indistinguishable from every competitor, which matters more than most pharma companies initially assume, especially as OTC and export competition increases.
Regulation sets the floor for pharma packaging, not the ceiling for pharma branding.
